Keep Calm and Form Voltron

Last year in June Dreamworks released an animated show exclusively on Netflix. When a close friend suggested that we watch Voltron, I wondered why she was recommending some corny robot cartoon from the 80's. She was not.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is a re-imagining of the 1983 Voltron: Defenders of the Universe. It's beautifully animated, fantastically written and over-flowing with amazing characters. Honestly I could write a book about how great this show is.

But this isn't a book, it's an art blog. Far less reading and writing involved.

This was the first round of Voltron fanart that I drew. I always start with head sketches when trying new characters. It's actually strange to look back at these and see how far I've come, mainly in drawing Shiro (bottom right).

I also realized around the time I was hopping aboard the Voltron train that Daniel Henney (Japanese-American actor) looks a lot like Shiro. Of course now that this drawing is old I see all sorts of errors with it. Maybe I should re-do it as a challenge. The facial anatomy makes me want to cry.

Still Attacking Those Titans

We're getting close to the time last year when I started watching Voltron: Legendary Defender on Netflix and my artwork started to include that as well as the usual Attack on Titan art. That will probably start in my next catch-up entry. Until then, enjoy some more Attack on Titan characters.

Mikasa is someone who just looks like she'd be into the "punk" style, so when I see clothes like that online I have to draw her in them.

Hanji's birthday is in September and I always try to make sure to do at least a sketch for the occasion.

Another Levi/Hanji event happened on Tumblr. These are the two drawings from that week that I still actually like.

(Levi hate cold >:C )

So next time we'll have more variety! These continue to be a bit sporadic in updates but hopefully I'll get a regular day nailed down.
