Week 30 Commence!

Another week for traditional media, sort of a follow up to Week 27. Another Hetalia character in some regal get-up, but this one will be more accurate and actually have a background. This week is the personification of Russia, Ivan Braginsky. He'll be in some Imperial Russian clothing looking handsome as ever.

Week 29 Is Gonna Stab Some Things

There may come a week that I dedicate to coloring this, but it's not this week. Right now I'm just glad that there's some contrast and the weapons are finished... ish. Now to figure out Week 30.

Week 29.4...ish

So this drawing may be divided into two weeks - one week to draw, ink, and tone it, and another to color. Maybe. I grew bored with it, which is why there were no updates the last few days. Since I started last Monday I'm giving myself until tomorrow evening to finish it so we'll see where I'm at by then. At least both the characters are done - I consider that much impressive.

Week 29.3

I made myself sit down and finish drawing/inking the angry guy on the right today. Those boxy parts of their gear are going to be my breaking point, I can see it already. I wonder how the manga artist manages to draw them so much...

Week 29.2

This one's going to take too long for me to make a silly joke in every title, so I'll spare you all for this one.

The guy on the left has a pose that makes more sense now. All the straps on the gear haven't been too difficult to draw, but the actual machinery won't be fun. Oh well. One day at a time.

Week 29: Two Cool Things for the Price of One!

The static poses and bland backgrounds I've been doing are starting to bore me. So I decided to try and do the opposite of that this week, and to also motivate myself by combining two things I enjoy. I recently watched all of what's released of an anime called Shingeki no Kyoujin (Or "Attack on Titan if your Japanese-illiterate like me). The characters wear this awesome gear to help them kill giants (AKA "Titans") and I thought two of the main characters from Spriggan would look pretty cool in it.

Here's some screenshots of the gear:

My drawing is really rough right now because when I started it my hands were shaking. I'm not really sure why, but since I was actually feeling motivated to draw I decided to go ahead and get the under-sketch done anyway. I know the anatomy on the blue guy is weird. I will fix that.

Week 28 Is... Something

Is it ugly? Is it t-shirt worthy? I have no idea. It's just a thing I did to learn Illustrator more. But if you want to see some t-shirts that really are cool, you should check out my brother's shop here. I have that purple one and it's pretty darn comfy.

Week 28.2

Here we see a compass that actually makes sense but needs some adjustments. It's actually been adjusted since this step, and I've done other things to it but I wanted to show this phase. I'm likely to finish it tonight or tomorrow morning.

Week 28 Gets Directional

I popped Illustrator open again for some practice! It's going to be a t-shirt design as a semi-surprise for a certain someone if he wants it.

It's not exactly straight and even here but I've been working on it this morning and fixed that a little.

Week 27 Takes A Bow

Okay, next time I draw a character I need to not cop out on the pose and the background. This isn't bad though - I actually still like it.

And commissions are still open. I was called off from work for the third day in a row today.

Week 27 is Doggone Dapper

I've been working on this for several and surprisingly don't hate it. It's not perfect but over-all my complaints are minimal. I was worried about the background but then I looked up portraits of royalty from days past and their backgrounds were sometimes just a plain neutral color. I have no problem doing the same.

And as mentioned last time, I am taking art commissions. Work called me off for the second day in a row because there's nothing for me to do. Sigh.

Week 27 Part 3 + Commission Call

I didn't make much progress over the weekend but at least he has a face now.

Also, finances are awfully tight for me right now. If anyone wants to pay me to make them some art, that would be incredibly helpful. Details on that can be seen here on my portfolio blog.

Week 27 Gets Dressed

This is semi based on historic Austrian clothing but mostly just me making things up. His hand will be on a sword that will actually be accurate.

Week 27 Will Learn Some Class

Decided to indulge with more Hetalia fan art this week. It will be a fancy gentleman in fancy clothes and hopefully look like one of those historic overly flattering portraits of royalty.

Also I turn 26 tomorrow!

Week 26 CH-CH-CHANGES (But Not Really)

It's okay if you want to ignore the terrible joke that is this entry's title. I know I'm going to from here on out.

I did most of the "H" yesterday while Mom and I were chilling out watching old sitcoms on Netflix. For being situation "comedies" those things sure are depressing sometimes. Today I just straightened out the lines some. I'm going to glue them together, but for blog purposes this will suffice.

I have no idea what to draw for Week 27...

Week 26 Gets Crafty Again

Looking at the Week numbers I realize that I'm a week behind somehow. Maybe once life calms down I'll do two weeks at once.

Anyway, drawing for this week was NOT working out for me, so instead I decided to do a craft. My mom actually requested some fancy painting letters to hang on the wall. I'm doing both her initials but I finished this one today. The other letter will be an H for our last name, and will be red and white stripes.

Also Paint Tool SAI is the only program that flips my images properly and it won't open.

Week 25: Seeing Starz

Happy late 4th of July everyone! Whether you're American and it's Independence Day or in another country where it's just another day on the calendar I hope it was a good one.

This is a couple days late, I realize. I thought I was going to call it done Wednesday night but I really truly hated it and was too exhausted to fix it. But after an unexpected day off it looks much better and I daresay worthy as a thank you gift to the veterinary clinic that helped Starz. I changed the background because it will be printed out and that would have been a lot of ink.

On a related note, Starz is doing better but still has to be force-fed. Sigh.
