Week Fifteen With An Extra

The inking on this was finished during a slow period at work yesterday, but this is the latest version that's been scanned. Since it's Friday and I have no homework (aside from studying; finals week ahoy!) I might start coloring it. Also, here's part of my Printmaking Final, the only project that wasn't a huge pain in the rear: 

Week Twelve: All At Once

So I guess last week should have been Week 11 the whole time. Oops.

Anyway, the third of the four commissions is now finished! It's a friend's character and her husband's character. I don't think their real-life counterparts were expecting but I thought the subject matter would be all too cute.

Anyway, since this commission is only to be inked, I'll spend the rest of the week planning out the last one and doing some personal sketches and art homework.

Week Seven: Progress Two (Artistic Nudity)

Isn't that an imaginative title.

Anyway, it turns out the whole thing will need to be colored digitally. Inking didn't go so well, so since there's now correction fluid on the original it would be impossible to color it traditionally and have it still look nice. But that's alright. It'll fit with the background better.

We had a young male model during class yesterday, which was quite different than the women and old man we've had so far. The musculature was interesting to do, and he took some poses from Michelangelo's works for the study. He had a very prominent brow ridge. It was neat but there wasn't really time or opportunity to draw it.

Week Three: Heavy Lines

Inking this drawing did not go as smoothly as planned, and since it's a different type of subject matter than the last two doing things a bit differently was fitting anyway. The coloring will be different too, probably very flat. I messed up on Denver's face repeatedly while inking it, so I'llbe trying to color around the correction fluid, which is never fun. The background's likely to be very symmetrical, since they're on a space ship.

Today is my first real day of class in both my studios! I'm excited for Life Drawing but have NO ideas for my first Printmaking project. That should be interesting...

All Line Up

Okay, this looks loads better now that it's inked and the figures are done. I'm currently undecided on how much of a background it'll have even though I know what Ivan's office looks like (In my head of course, not officially).

Also, Lien is wearing a shirt that I saw online. Isn't it pretty? I'm currently undecided on how I'll do the pattern, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Right now I'm just pleased that I made it to the inking stage.

Random fact: In Vietnam it's a tradition that only the mother may touch an infant for thirty days after he/she is born. That'd be frustrating.

Week 19: Lined Up

This was all done last night after I scanned the sketch version, and I was still watching T2 while I worked. Looking at it now I suppose a background of some variety is in order, but the ideas aren't there for it yet.

Duke's arm is cybernetic, but that's the only part of him that is. He just usually has a sleeve of fake fur over it (currently torn off) so it looks more normal. He also never wears sleeveless shirts.

Week 6 - Progress 2: Leaps and Bounds

Okay, accomplished a lot on this thing today! I knew it'd be fun, and it totally is. Still unsure of the background, but was enjoying it too much to care today. And look, you guys get two updates in 24 hours! Just thought I should make up for not posting yesterday.

I think I was able to do a lot because instead of driving back to my place or killing time online, I was at at a game-day party at my uncle's. Since football means very little to me, I worked on this during the game and paused when commercials were on. Also had some awesome food.

And the pendant she usually wears around her neck is now a tie pin. How handy.

PS: Kessie, probably no Valentine's drawing. :P What I did for Week 2 was a drawing for a contest that ends on V-day, and I draw mushy nonsense on a regular basis anyway, I just never post it.
