Some Elements

Back in October some of the Inktober prompts I filled were inspired by Voltron characters and the respective elements they all represent. Sadly I never got around to all five.

Shiro: Sky/space/stars (Colored with Paint Tool SAI)

Lance: Water (Pencil, pen, Prismacolor pencils)
Keith: Fire (Pencil, pen, Prismacolor pencils)

Hunk: Earht/Rock (Pencil, Paint Tool SAI)

I'm pretty happy with all of these but especially Hunk.

Fat Cats and Bob Ross

Drew a page of chubby kitties for the prompt "Whale" last October.

And some more Bob Ross follow-alongs in Paint Tool SAI.

The Not-Fanart Entry

Like the title says.

First is a digital paint that I did following a Bob Ross video. I did a couple after it that turned out more polished but this one's not bad.

During Inktober 2018 I filled the prompt "Roast" by drawing Kermit, a dog who belongs to the famous YouTuber Jenna Marbles. He's a walking anxiety-ridden disaster and I can relate some days.

Another one from Inktober. I think the prompt was "Drool" and a happy, slobbery dragon was relaxing and easy to draw.

I do plan on sharing the rest of my Bob Ross digital art, possibly one at a time with other art.

Summer 2018

Just some Voltron fan art.

For Lance's birthday, July 28 2018.

Kolivan reminds me a lot of Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan, so I figured he'd look great in Erwin's clothes.

I came up with my own Galra character like many other Voltron fans have. His name is Styx.

And Again

I know, it's been months. The problem isn't remember do draw. I do that all the time, but trying to think of what to say in a blog where I post the art is the challenge. I don't want to prattle on about the piece, I just want to post it and be done.

So, in order to keep posting but prevent the intimidation factor, I'll just drop in some drawings once in a while with minimal comment and if anyone wants to know more about a piece, they are free to leave a comment and I will answer.

So here's some Voltron: Legendary Defender fan art, starting from back in May 2018

Shiro as a koi merman for Mermay 2018

Allura and Shiro looking as 80s as possible.

In Living Color - The End of 2017

At long last, the last of the art from 2017 that I will be sharing. I'm sure that if I'd remembered to update more than once a month (or two...) we would have reached this point sooner. But let's wrap this up so we can move on to drawings from 2018.

The middle of November there was a Voltron fan-run even dedicated to my favorite character, Shiro. I didn't do a piece for all seven days, but here's a couple that I did. I had fun with the dramatic lighting that I added digitally.

They're both highly symbolic but unless you've seen the show they would take an essay or two to explain.

Towards the end of December I went to see Thor: Ragnarok on one of my days off. It was a week day so I had the entire theater to myself and had a great time not only because of that but because I love Thor and this is a great movie.

I enjoyed it enough to be inspired to do my first ever Thor fanart, despite loving him in the movies for years.

Whenever I next remember to update, I'll finally be posting drawings from the beginning of 2018! The year that I decided to try drawing more dynamic poses and less head/shoulders like Thor up there.

Darker Things

A few more of the things I managed to do for my personal "Inkvember". I feel like these have a good variety to them.

"Lost" - Sharpie and ballpoint pen

"Hidden" - Hanji Zoe from Attack on Titan

"Rock" - Hunk and Shiro, Voltron: Legendary Defender

Next time I actually remember to update will be what I did after I stopped the Inkvember prompts. We're inching closer to the end of 2017's art!

After Inktober

This has been sitting as a draft on my blog for one month. Oops.

Anyway, after my trip last October, I wanted to do some drawing prompts again to keep my skills sharp. I found prompts from 2016 Inktober and went with those does few days.

Day 1: "fast" (asleep) - Lance, Voltron

Day 2: Noisy - Hanji, Attack on Titan

Day 3: Collection - Young Alfor and Coran, Voltron

Day 4: Hungry - Shiro and Allura, Voltron

Yeah that turned self indulgent end but I'm not sorry.

Hopefully it won't be as long between updates this time.

The Last of Inktober (Finally)

So exactly one month later I'm remembering to post the rest of what I drew in October. It wasn't a lot but I did spend the last week of the month on a trip and chose not to sweat over making any art happen.

Inktober Day 10: "Gigantic" (not fanart, just something cute)

Inktober Day 9 was Screech but I did Day 21's "Furious" instead. Poor Keith

Inktober Day 11: Shatter: Shiro from Voltron and heavy symbolism
Inktober Day 14: Fierce: Pidge from Voltron because she is that

More Inktober - Violence Warning for Last Image

NOTE: The final image is going to be at the bottom with a large amount of space between it and the others. This will make it easy to avoid.

So I was mistaken and I only filled twelve Inktober prompts, but that's okay. I had fun and they were great practice. Again, mostly Voltron fanart with a single Attack on Titan piece.

As last time I'll just give the prompt and a short explanation.

005 Long: As in "long day"

007 Shy: A little baby Galra Keith hiding behind Kolivan

008 Crooked: A good excuse to draw Hanji with a crooked grin

The last pic will be down below this. Next time will be the rest of the Inktober fills.

Nothing Inktober Yet

I mentioned in the last entry that I would be participating in Inktober this year, and so far I have been. Honestly I'm impressed that I've managed to fill a prompt every day so far. But before I start posting those drawings, I want to put up the ones I finished before this started.

First up, an adorable couple from Voltron: Legendary Defender. I spent a Saturday working on this sketch of Hunk (the human) and his rock alien girlfriend, Shay. They have such an adorable relationship that I just had to draw them at some point. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. Especially because it turns out they're both super fun to draw.

This one I just did for some digital art practice and to pull myself out of an art funk. Eren from Attack on Titan. It's a... grim show for those who didn't know. Though for context's sake, he was saving a kidnapped girl. ...Let's move on.

Lastly, another fun Voltron art of Shiro and Pidg wearing these lion backpacks. The space mall background is a screenshot from the show because I am not that ambitious.

Next time there will be some Inktober sketches, though I'm not sure when that will be. Season four of Voltron drops on Netflix this Friday and I may be an emotional wreck.

I Am A Bean! (Also There's Voltron Art)

Once upon a time I had an original character whom I used to depict myself. But over the last few years I've outgrown her, I guess. The need to draw myself as a character with a story just doesn't exist anymore, and I didn't have an actual caricature of myself to draw just for fun and silliness.

And then a friend called me a bean (out of endearment) and I had to make the Liz-Bean a reality. So here she is. She's fun and simple to draw, which makes for a great way to loosen up while I'm drawing.

July 28th was Lance's birthday, so as is now customary I drew him with his Lion, Blue. Looks like he's feeling a bit homesick though, poor thing.

A couple friends of mine really enjoy the concept as Shiro as a strong, tough woman, so I indulged them by trying to conceptualize that. We're all pleased with the result. She looks adorable but strong, I think.

Lastly a quick Lance drawing inspired by the lid on my microwave soup cup... because it's something he'd wear. For optimal flirting. With that shirt and finger guns he can't lose.

Meaningful Things, Weird Things, Nothing in Color

I started this as a draft over a month ago. Shame on me.

Anyway, June (yes that far back) was PTSD awareness month as well as the one year anniversary of Voltron: Legendary Defender's launch on Netflix. To acknowledge the former and celebrate the latter, I combined the two into some fanart. Since Shiro and I both suffer PTSD, it only seemed fitting.

The PTSD ribbon is the color I used in the drawing.

A friend had a birthday some time in June, so I managed a quick, decent sketch of one of their characters... named Nanners. That's about all I got.

There's some things I have an interest in that I'll forget about for long periods of time and then suddenly think "You know what was fun and trippy and I should watch videos of again? That thing." In this case said thing is a very odd independent PC game called "OFF". It would take a few blog entries by themselves to explain this image so just enjoy it for the craziness it is, I suppose.

I really truly hope that my next blog entry won't be so long in coming but I tend to be scatterbrained about it since I don't have a weekly art project or anything of the like to keep me focused on it. But I am considering trying Inktober. We'll see how that goes.

Just Those Attack on Titan Weirdos

Like the title says.

There was another fandom week for the Levi/Hanji pairing so these are some of my better entries.

Also the background for the last one because I spent hours on that thing and want people to see it.

Homages, Designs, and Improvements

It's probably a good thing you don't know how long these blog entries sit in my drafts with the pictures already added but me unable to think of anything coherent to say.

First is a simple sketch of two Attack on Titan characters, Mike and Nanaba, based on a photo of Carrie Fisher being held up by Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca).  The size difference is just uncanny and reminded me of these two.

A few entries ago I showed a sketch I did of Shiro from Voltron as the alien race Altean. I finally took it a step farther and designed some body markings for him, too. So far we've only seen the face marks on the Altean characters, but I think it'd be fun if they had those all over. And if they glowed.

Also while working on this I made an outfit template for anything else I want to design for Shiro. Then I looked at the original template I'd done a few months prior and there was like a leap in improvement. It's good to look at whenever I'm discouraged about my artistic journey.

Drawing all those muscles was a nice bonus, too.
