Week Fifteen: Consumed by Academics (Also, Oops)

So Week 14 was, in fact, finished on time. I even started an entry for it! But somehow forgot to finish so it's been sitting in my blog as a draft since Sunday. So here you go:

Ballet slipper just ended up fitting better. I don't know what I was thinking with the puppet.

As for Week 15, since I had a hefty art assignment to finish by yesterday, all of my conceptual efforts went into that rather than something separate. The good news is that this is the final assignment for Figure Drawing this year, so next week should be back to normal!

We were supposed to take inspiration from historic painters and emulate two different painting from different time periods. This was loosely based on one by Titian. It's alright, I know it's not great. The other one on the other hand...

Turned out pretty well. It's inspired by one of Ingres, and while the over-all mood is different than the original it at least looks nice on its own.

Week Fourteen: Smooth

It's likely that a lot of people are going to complain about the new Blogspot layout, and  I'll be one of them. I'll get used to it over time but had no issues with the old one.

That said, her clothes are done! Still hesitating on that puppet though.

Week Fourteen: Puppet Mistress

Still no idea what's going on with that puppet. Considering scrapping it altogether, actually, but that leaves the question of just what she's doing. My current question is what I was thinking doing a sorta-pleated skirt.

Week Fourteen: Dusting Off the Tablet

The last time I used my tablet was during Spring Break, which feels like a lifetime ago. Since both the drawings that precede this one are digital, it was only fitting that this one be the same. No idea what the puppet will be yet.

Week Fourteen: The Accidental Third

Now that I'm able to draw for myself again this week, it seemed fitting to finish an accidental series of drawings, of which this and this are the first two parts. The characters have a younger sister who I'll draw this week. She "embodies" Belarus and her name is Natalia. So far I've managed to get a pose concept done; it's the one on the top right:

I've also been looking through the Tumblr that I run as a sort of collection of costume design ideas. I'm going to incorporate a corset like this and tights like this, with a generic skirt. Still deciding how fancy I want to go with the shoes.

Week Thirteen: All Together (Artistic Nudity)

Despite uncertainties about finishing this commission about half way through the week it is, in fact, finished within seven days of when it was started. Since I didn't update during that time, you'll have to take my word for it. I'm really eager to draw something fun for myself as a reward this coming week.

Also, some fun things from my Figure Drawing class, including a page of gesture warm ups, which are between ten to thirty second poses. This is the first page I've done of them that felt like it was worth posting on the internet anywhere.

Week Twelve Free Styling (Nudity at End)

Week Twelve: All At Once

So I guess last week should have been Week 11 the whole time. Oops.

Anyway, the third of the four commissions is now finished! It's a friend's character and her husband's character. I don't think their real-life counterparts were expecting but I thought the subject matter would be all too cute.

Anyway, since this commission is only to be inked, I'll spend the rest of the week planning out the last one and doing some personal sketches and art homework.

Week Ten Finally Ends

As planned, the commission is finished and it's the first day of April! Today officially starts a new week and also thankfully a new month. I was getting very tired of March. This next week will revolve around finishing another commission, but one that won't take as long so there should be time to do some sketching for myself as well.
