Week Twenty Six Ends
This could afford more polish and adjusting, but it's at a point where I'm find leaving it the way it is. Week twenty six ends tomorrow officially and I've got writing and other things to do, so we'll consider it done.
I'm still not sure if this is the eye that's green, but there's so much blue in this picture already that we'll assume it is for now. If I'm wrong, I can flip it around later.

Week Twenty Six is Still Kicking
Fear not, for this week's drawing has not died. It's being worked on between actual work and writing for the August edition of Camp National Novel Writer's Month, though Aleron being one of the characters in said novel certainly helps.
His eye isn't colored yet because he's based on an Asian jointed doll I own with two different colored eyes. One's green and one's blue but I honestly can't remember which is which and the box isn't within my reach right now. And I'm lazy.
Anyway, he's almost done. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to do finish his hair at least.

Week Twenty Six Drags Along
His arms are still in the wrong place - way off from where his elbow should be - but we'll get there. In the meantime his hands have come a lot closer to being finished and he's actually holding things now! I'd like to work on his hair next as a reprieve from his fingers and skin, but I'd also like to get that other hand out of the way. I guess we'll see?

Crawling Back With Week Twenty Six
So if this had been done right and I really had been completing a drawing or other work of art every week this year, Week Twenty Six would have been back in mid-June. Obviously this did not happen as Week Twenty Six is happening at the beginning of August and is somehow starting on a Thursday. Oh well. Life and creativity can do that sometimes.
As I ease back into finishing a Weekly Artwork with only a few weeks left until school starts (perhaps not the best idea), I go the digital route yet again with a character of my own. He's from the novel that I'm attempting for the August edition of Camp National Novel Writer's Month. His name is Aleron and he has some alien DNA in him, hence the odd hair. He's also based on a doll that I've owned for a few years of the same name.

Week 20 Puts Its Hoof Down (Finally)
The reason that this was not finished on time was that last Friday the cord to the laptop that I can use my tablet with fried. The new one came in today so this could finally be finished!
It could use more polish, I'm sure, but really it just needed to reach a reasonable level of completion.
So I present Pony Me, using magic to work with clay and form some sort of miniature... thing. The mark on her flank is a pencil and mini cupcake, inspired by a drawing that a friend did of me as a pony.

Week 20: Galloping Along
Fiddled around today during lunch. Shortened the front legs since they were way too long before.
That's all for now, trying to recover from a cold.

Week 20 Waddles Along
Hid the blue sketch lines so it's easier to see what's going on. Coming along nicely, though I have to keep resisting the urge to "paint" rather than draw.
The critter under the table is a guinea pig. His name is Squeaky in honor of the first guinea pig I owned when I was ten.

Week 20: Hoof-A-Riffic
Because I am arguably insane, I decided on June 1st to do "Camp National Novel Writer's Month", which is the name as the normal National Novel Writer's Month, but it's not in November. I won't be doing it in November because I will be a senior trying to finish up earning a Bachelor's degree in studio art and won't have time.
So, to keep myself sane, the weekly arts for June will be fairly simple. For this week, because ponies are relatively easy, I'll be turning myself into a pony. A unicorn. Because I can.
Again, digital drawing, since I'll be staring at the computer a lot anyway.

Week Eighteen: Getting Close
Her face is a little creepy at the moment, but just trust that it will look much better soon.
Also corrected the tint of her skin since it was rather... orange.

Week Eighteen With a Fancy Umbrella Drink
Today started rough and stressful, so it's impressive that this made it as far as it has since yesterday. Apparently I'll need to look up some tutorials for coloring glass because as I started on the drink I realized that I had no idea how. And yes there will be an umbrella in it. There has to be.
Might even be finished tomorrow!

Week Eighteen Starts
And it actually starts on the first day of the week this time, miraculously enough. Somehow I kept busy last week and didn't really let it sink in until Saturday that I truly am out of school until August and there's no homework lingering over my head with threats of bad grades if it isn't finished. Which means I can clean and goof off as much as I want outside of working.
So this week I'm going to do a digital painting again, perhaps more than one, but this one is the ultimate completion goal. It's another Hetalia character, one that a lot of people randomly hate. Since passive-aggressive is my specialty, I decided to draw her to annoy said people. She represents Seychelles and has no human name yet that I know of.
She'll be holding a fancy umbrella drink and I might throw some tropical flowers into the background, or blobs that resemble them in some way.

Week Fifteen: Consumed by Academics (Also, Oops)
So Week 14 was, in fact, finished on time. I even started an entry for it! But somehow forgot to finish so it's been sitting in my blog as a draft since Sunday. So here you go:
Ballet slipper just ended up fitting better. I don't know what I was thinking with the puppet.
As for Week 15, since I had a hefty art assignment to finish by yesterday, all of my conceptual efforts went into that rather than something separate. The good news is that this is the final assignment for Figure Drawing this year, so next week should be back to normal!
We were supposed to take inspiration from historic painters and emulate two different painting from different time periods. This was loosely based on one by Titian. It's alright, I know it's not great. The other one on the other hand...
Turned out pretty well. It's inspired by one of Ingres, and while the over-all mood is different than the original it at least looks nice on its own.
We'll end off with a couple of things from in-class:

Week Four: The Time Has Come..
...to declare this drawing done! The only changes from last night are the lighting and some blur to make the background more background-y, but I was honestly too tired to be bothered with it last night. This was good practice getting back into using my tablet, and a good learning experience. It also more than makes up for how plain last week's drawing was.
Next week will be a re-do of one of last year's projects.

Week Four: Backlash
Man, so close! tomorrow will be for adding lighting to the smaller background objects and playing with the lighting as a whole. Still too darn tired for a much more cohesive entry than that. Maybe tomorrow.

Week Four: I'm Tired
Yes, yes I am. So sorry, not much to say about it other than that the tattoos and scars are next. And the hair. The hair will be fun. The tattoos and scars might not.

Week Four: Busy (Artistic Nudity)
It's already the middle of the week and this little artist is exhausted. It's been a week of running nonstop with small and few breathing periods and early mornings. But today things are finally slowed down at least enough for me to work on my drawing for the week after a day of creativity including Figure Drawing and actually doing something in Printmaking for the first time this semester. The results are the following. Enjoy!
Labels:
charcoal,
Digital,
Figure drawing,
GIMP,
Hetalia,
Ivan,
Printmaking

Week Four: Fleshy (Artistic Nudity)
Since the semester is officially started, Figure Drawing projects will start being posted, and yes many of them will contain nudity. I'll put a warning on each title, just know that it will happen a lot.
Started adding in the reflective image. The "real" subject (Ivan from Hetalia) will be slightly brighter. The stomach muscles are bothering me right now, but maybe I'll figure it by the time I work on it again.Yesterday was our first "real" day of class, since last Wednesday was cancelled due to weather. We did a lot of obnoxious exercizes, but in the end were allowed to draw from the model with our own methods. We had to turn it in as a means for the teacher to track our progress, but it was the only thing I did that day that I liked, so I snapped a photo before giving it to her.
Background noise: Scrubs. Not for much longer - almost caught up.

Working on It
I've been plugging along slowly since the last entry. Today my intention is to relax and finally do a little art for myself, and hopefully work on this commission, as it still needs colored.
I also need to look up the exact quote, because I have a feeling that's not totally accurate.
Last weekend was quite a fiasco with my art computer. I installed a Windows 7 upgrade to help the problem with my graphics card. While this worked, it meant hours of trying to make the Sims 2 install correctly and that I also tore my apartment apart looking for the installation discs for everything else. I found all that I need except the Photoshop disk, so I downloaded GIMP and have been trudging through learning to use it as Photoshop's replacement. It's not so bad once you adapt to its quirks and different "language" as it were.
That said, I've been working on my book cover in GIMP and also goofing around with Illustrator as well. Andreas is slowly coming together, but I'm finally looking at it with enough distance to realize that his head is far too small. Thankfully that won't take too long to fix.
The painting for my Painting I class is as finished as it will be, but I currently lack a photo. Perhaps after doing some relaxing art today I'll snap a quick one of it.
