Right now as I write my introduction entry, I wonder if I should have put the "Fine" in Fine Art in quotes, since this is my art I'll be blogging about here. In my defense, however, "Fine" makes the title flow better than just "Caffeine and Art".
So here I am, a 23-year-old art student calling myself "Kat Warrior" and starting a blog about artwork. For the past couple of years I've been conducting my own personal challenge known as "Daily Sketch", which is rather self-explanatory but also rather stressful. This year I decided it would be "Weekly Artwork" for the sake of actually finishing things and keeping my sanity intact. The decision to blog about it was inspired by the movie "Julie and Julia" which, by the way, is awesome.
If you want to see what I've been up to for the past few years art-wise you can either wade through my Tumblr blog where I hosted the Daily Sketches or my DeviantArt account. Tumblr is more active because I mostly only post finished things on DeviantArt, but the downside is that it's also full of re-blogs from other users, miscellaneous pictures from the ICanHasCheezBurger websites, inspiring artwork, and more screenshots from my Sims 2 shenanigans than I care to admit to. DeviantArt has work from at far back as 2003, which I shudder to think about.
I must say, I'm impressed with the background options this site has. I'm not much of a pattern-creator, and honestly I can't think of any photo I've taken that wouldn't just make people dizzy. So the awesome purple wallpaper thing will do just fine. Besides, it reminds of Victorian wallpaper, and I am a huge nerd for that era in History.
So, here's to having 52 drawings completed by this date in 2011.
